2.0  MATTERS ARISING

       2.1 Board Membership

John Burton confirmed that he was still actively campaigning for new board members. There has been some verbal interest, but the campaign will continue until positions have been filled.

2.2 Draft Policy on Special Needs

A joint response has been sent to the Council. Due to the constraints of the deadline it could not be brought back to the Board before being returned.

            2.3 Cycle Racks

Jacqui Horsburgh confirmed that Stockbridge Primary School will be getting the cycle racks in the near future.  It was under discussion to where exactly these would be placed, but there has been no definite area located for this project, but various suggestions are being explored. The cycle racks that the school will receive, will be identical to those in use at Broughton Primary and will either hold 1 adult and 1 child bicycle , or 2 childrens bicycles.

3.0 Edinburgh Trees Project

Pat Eccles is conducting this project, because of concerns for the lack of greenery at new developments and the urban areas all together.  Pat expressed the concerns that children in particular have no green  play areas on the new housing developments, and although Inverleith Park is conveniently close by, it is rather over subscribed.  The project is highlighting potential areas where new  tree planting can be beneficial i.e. Standard Life in Canon Mills, creating better working moods and emotional well-being for entire community.  The increase of trees will also attract and encourage more wild life to our urban areas.

Although Stockbridge Primary  does have trees in the playground, the board expressed interest in the possibility of increasing new trees in the playground  and along the various routes to school.  Pat also informed the board that the school can take advantage of free advice from Gilbert Thompson, who will be delighted to guide the school in any tree planting enquiries.

The school will be discussing the idea of planting a tree for the upcoming anniversary celebrations.

4.0 School Website/Board Website

All board members visited the IT suite and  discussed the layout of the School Website and the Board Website. It was agreed that Greame Bodenham and Lucy Ramasawmy would liaise to avoid areas of overlap between the two sites, to ensure that the Board site complemented the existing School website.

            5.1  Financial Report

All figures will be confirmed before further discussions.  Some information will have to be clarified and Jacqui Horsburgh will report regarding the above, at the next board meeting.

A fundraising evening is being planned for the 30th of October 2001.  The after school activities   were discussed and it was confirmed that there was a drop in interest and the PTA was suffering a loss of £186 as a result of this.
